Two-month Pediatrician appointment

On July 2nd Grace had her two-month Pediatrician appointment. Grace weighed 10 lb., 9 oz. and was more than 22.50" long. She is growing so fast! Dr. Guthrie, her Pediatrician, said everything looked great.

Then came the dreaded initial round of immunizations: five shots and one oral vaccine. She was vaccinated for rotavirus (oral), polio, hepatitis B, pneumococcal conjugate (cause of meningitis and other ailments), haemophilus influenzae B (cause of meningitis and other ailments), and diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (whooping cough). The nurse was fantastic. She was so fast with the immunizations that Grace didn't have a chance to scream until the third needle was already on the way in. Grace did scream a little, but once Kristie picked her up, she settled down very quickly.

She looked a little pitiful with 5 band-aids on her legs (3 on one leg and 2 on the other), but she didn't seem to bothered by it all afterwards. She slept a little more than normal that afternoon and evening, but seems to be back to normal.

We are very thankful to have such a healthy little girl.

Play time

The past week has included an exciting developmental change. Grace has started to play for the first time, and it is a lot of fun to watch. So far, her favorite is her gymnasium. She likes to lay on her back and swing her arms to hit the objects overhead. If we slide her down a bit, she likes to kick the beach ball at the other end, too.

She also has started grasping her bumble bee teether and swinging it around. The mobile in her crib now gets some attention, as does the musical toy attached to the side of her crib. Oh yeah, one of the best toys of all seems to be mommy and daddy's hands!

Grace goes to see her fist sporting event

The past three years, I have become a very big soccer fan, and Kristie and I have partial season tickets for the local (if you can call Frisco local) Major League Soccer (MLS) team, FC Dallas. Last Saturday, June 30, Grace went to see FC Dallas play Houston Dynamo at Pizza Hut Park. This was our first return to the pitch since Grace was born, and it was fun for us to all be there together.

The game ended in a 0-0 tie, but it was a solid defensive effort by FC Dallas to hold onto the lead in the Western Conference. I think Grace is already a fan.
